History

The Raeyan Sector is one of the oldest, and most illustrious areas of operation within Fourth Fleet's Operations. Home to some of the most turbulent times in the fleet, such as war and political instability, yet has endured as possibly one of the most thriving areas in the Beta Quadrant. With it's location surrounded by four different powers, the Klingon Empire, Romulan Star Empire, C'hakilian Empire, and Krazzle Republic, the Raeyan Sector is a massive center for trade. Located across the Romulan and Klingon Empires to the main Federation territory, it probably would not have become Federation-controlled territory if it were not for a portal that allows instantaneous travel between the sector and main Federation space. Most local ships are unable to traverse the portal, due to that most starships by local species can not created a stable enough warp field.

Discovery and Federation Control

Despite the sector being rich in resources, most ships from the species native to the region of space do not travel faster than Warp 5. Due to these resources, and the powers around the sector, the Raeyan Trade Consortium was formed.

C'hakilian War

A C'hakilian fleet during the war

Shortly after the Dominion War, it is seen that the C'hakilian Empire is a potential threat to the Federation forces in the sector. After some scrimmages, resulting in the capture or destruction of Starfleet ships, the C'hakilian Empire launches an all out invasion of the Raeyan Sector. The C'hakilians manage to take the sector, including such major installations as Avalon Fleet Yards and occupy Raeya 3. After some smaller battles, Starfleet puts together a mass of some 500 starships with the intention of taking back the sector. Eventually, the Klingon Empire joins alongside the Federation, after the C'hakilians start attacking Klingon ships and outposts. Starfleet reestablishes Task Force 21 for covert operations to turn the tide of the war. Soon, such installations as Avalon and Hawkeye get returned back to Federation control and the C'hakilians start to get driven from the sector. After one last ditch effort to take Starbase 611 as it goes operational for the first time, the C'hakilians are driven from the sector. Some months after, the C'hakilian Peace Armistice is signed, bringing the war to an offical close.

Locations

Raeyan Star System

Main article: Raeyan System

The heart of the Raeyan Sector, and the system after which the entire sector is named, and of course, home to the Raeyans. The system became home to the first starbase in the Fourth Fleet, Starbase Bravo, which orbits Raeya 3. On the surface of Raeya 3 is Hawkeye Island, the command and control center for Task Force 58. Within the asteroid belt of the system is Avalon Fleet Yards, one of the major fleet construction facilities of the fleet.

The League Space

Main article: The League

The League is a sovereign power located within the heart of the Raeyan Sector. Born of the Human Colony of Yaria, The League's history is riddled with conflict and strife to maintain its independence and stability. Based off of the planet Colresce, with a colony on Polesta and Fleet Yards around Excornia, The League maintains a heavy military presence within the sector. Bent on eliminating the pirate threat to the trade routes of its protectorates and allies, The League's carrier groups are frequently found traversing the areas in and between their space. While generally taking a defensive posture outside of their territory, League patrols will engage any combat vessel that crosses their border without express permission or specific purpose. Highly patriotic and generally suspicious of outsiders, The League civilian population is extremely closed and close-knit, shielding a rich cultural heritage especially in art and music from many who would enjoy it. The League has long held a disdain for the Federation, and that trend continues today. However, leadership on Colresce knows Starfleet is here to stay. While hardly on friendly terms, open aggression against the Federation has generally ceased in lieu of more subtle practices. In all things, The League looks to its own interests. It will forge uneasy alliances to defeat common enemies, and bring its wrath on any who would hinder or impede the completion of its objectives.

Important Planets and Locations

Sinela IV

Main article: Sinela IV

Sinela IV is the fourth planet in the heavily populated Sinela System. It is 1 out of only 2 planets habitable. 5.7 Billion people live on Sinela IV. Since the planet has 85% water coverage the continents are very over populated, with no where to build, they have no choice but up. The cities are filled with skyscrapers that impress civilizations from lightyears around. The government on Sinela IV is considered the only oligarchy in the Raeyan Sector known to the Federation. Ruled by a council of elders, who hold lifetime terms. Ironically, the Sinela people are known for their long life spans. The current council has been serving for the last 260 years. The capital is Lioana City. Sadly, organized crime is known to run rampant in the slums and less valuable cities on the planet. The most feared and known crime boss, Po'Real, is often seen and mentioned in the news. It is rumored that he may be gaining support from the people for a possible coup de'ta.

Niveq II

A heavily, desert planet, scattered with oasises. The planet is uninhabited, but under observation for a possible federation outpost. During the USS Devestator's first mission we were sent to Sector 718. At the time the planet was uncharted, but now it is now known as Niveq II, Part of the Niveq System. There, a secret C'hakilian Underground base was found. It was made out of old federation starships they bought from rouge Romulans. The crew of the Neptune, and old NX class ship was found. The base was destroyed.

Lazi IV

Lazi IV is the fourth of twelve planets in the Lazi System. The planet is mostly barren but in recent years the Raeyan Mining Corporation, a member of the Corporate Confederation, has set up a mining colony to begin mining the planet's resources. Of particular interest is the discovery of ancient ruins found near the mining colony. Though the site was looted by the Cardassian mercenary Lugoj, there was enough left to discover an advanced star map of the Raeyan Sector.

Fourth of July Nebula

Named after the celebration of independence of the old Earth nation, the United States. It was named by Federation scientist Lance Beltran. The name was chosen because the red, white, and blue color scheme of the nebula. Of special note is that this particular nebula is of sacred interest to the Xeltic religion. In their ideology, the nebula is the place where K'uman disappeared centuries ago. It is also called the Way To K'uman Nebula.

Xeltic II

Xeltic II is the second of eight planets in the Xeltic System, located within the Fourth of July Nebula. It is the homeworld to the heavily religious race, the Xeltic. According to their beliefs, Xeltic II is the location that the center of their religious beliefs, a god named K'uman, will return one day. The main government of the Xeltic Empire is found on this planet.
