Summary
The Krazzle Republic is a old civilization under a newly reformed system. While warriors, they also excel at the cultural, artistic, social and economic facets of society. The Krazzle themselves are felinoid and thus share many characteristic with species such as the Caitians.
Political System
The modern Krazzle government is that of a Praliamentary Republic, where the head of state is not the same person as the head of government, the latter is termed Vice Consul. The Consul's own role is however highly political.
The Vice Consul is responsible for managing the policies and the central government.
Although never really taken place, since Consul G'tal retitled directly from Monarch to Consul, the Krazzle Republic's charter states clearly that a Consul shall be elected by the senate with a 60 precent majority. The Consul also needs to be strictly non-partisan.
The Krazzle Republic's Senate is made up of 40 senators. 10 from Kraz and the remained from it's colonies and other worlds within the Republic, based on population. This reform has also led to the development of a middle class and the deterioration of the current caste system.
Republic History
The first real political system on Kraz was founded roughly 3256 years ago when 127 northern tribes formed the very first Krazzle empire. This very early form of government provided all the power only to an Emperor and little of his relatives as the leading caste. The first Emperor was of course a high level tribe leader of one of the biggest clans in the empire.
After all the ancient Krazzle empire existed for almost 2 thousand years albeit in different variations.
The most prominent incarnation is the 38th dynasty empire whose capitol was the famous city Galtur Natal. In this era a sole family ruled for over 50 generations before being slaughter by an opposing clan. Which lead to the very first and important global political shift that kept the cultural development of the Krazzle down for several decades.
After the dust had settled the Krazzle once more stood together forming the 2nd Krazzle Empire which actually was a monarchy. The only head of state was the emperor who solely represented the executive.
The line of succession ran in the monarch's family but could also fall to befriended clans if no successor within the own family was found.
Then in 2384 the Krazzle Empire ultimately transformed into a republic under the visionary guidance of Emperor G'Tal who retitled himself new 'Consul of the Krazzle Republic'.
G'Tal follows a direction of freedom and prosperity with more power to the people. This was not only a benevolent decision. It was clear that the more and more educated working class was increasingly unsatisfied with the political conditions so the shift was also a preemptive measure.
However the Republic was highly anticipated by the Krazzle themselves as well as most of the major powers in the Beta Quadrant.
Federation Involvement
- The Federation learned about the change first through the USS Shadow who was on a diplomatic mission to Kraz in late 2384. Although only sent to negotiate trade agreements the crew soon realized that the indifferent monarchistic leadership was turned into a pro-outsider republic, eager to define new relations with other powers.
- At the same time the Federation managed to sign several trade agreements with the Krazzle negotiated through Chief Diplomatic Officer Samantha Swanson. Those agreements are consolidated under the "Ge'Ovan Charter", named after the area of space most of the future trade routes would pass through.
